Description

Blast back to where part of the LEGO universe began! Light up the LEGO Galaxy Explorer 10497 with a big bang - and Light My Bricks!

Our kit is the perfect addition to complement this celebratory LEGO set, with an astronomical 85 individual LEDs that will allow you to highlight the multitude of classic LEGO Space details - and take your collectable display to heights out of this world! Each of the Galaxy Explorer?s rear jet boosters are powerfully lit with a 3x3 Warm White Light Ring, while up front those asteroid blasting cannons fire away in rapid succession, clearing a safe path forward thanks to a pair of our Blue Bit Lights and a Gun Effects Boards!

Our light kit assembly ensures full functionality and playability once installed, thanks to our easy-to-follow instructions! Retract the craft?s landing legs and ramp. Open the rear door and cockpit where you?ll find a hive of space activity - thanks to both our Red to Blue and Green to Orange Colour Changing Bit Lights!

The action doesn?t stop there however, interplanetary beings will observe the craft moving through space due to a pair of our Rotating Bit Lights signalling on either side of the hull!

Light My Bricks LEGO Lighting Kits provide an easy way for LEGO fans to customize their models using LED lights. With detailed, step-by-step instructions, anyone can light up their LEGO set. All our kits are plug and play - no electronics knowledge needed!

IMPORTANT NOTE

We recommend lighting this kit by a USB Power Bank or USB Wall Adaptor (to connect to a mains outlet), which is NOT included in this kit. If you do not have a USB Power Bank or USB Wall Adaptor, you can purchase them from our Powering section.

Amazing, but can be even better with a few upgrades

This was my first light kit and it is fantastic. Having read reviews and looked at the other lightmybricks components available, I purchased some extra bits to make it even better.

The first improvement is finding somewhere to hide a battery box onboard so that the Galaxy Explorer can take off when the lights are on (Its a spaceship, it needs to fly!). The smallest Power brick fits neatly inside the back compartment under the roof - then the wires just need routing to the power brick.

Secondly, the 4 rocket engines can be improved significantly by adding a flicker effects board. Now when I fly my Galaxy explorer, the engines look so much more realistic. Fo that I used another Power brick installed in the other side of the back compartment, and a short 5cm connecting cable to the flicker board. The little lunar buggy still fit in the rear compartment with the 2 power bricks installed.

Finally, as another reviewer suggested below, changing the starboard side wing light from red to green completes this upgrade. I love it so much

Amazing look

This is such a great kit. Instructions were pretty easy to understand. Was surprised to find out there were extra pieces included. The only issue I had was that one of the 1x1 trans round parts didn’t have the notch cut in it like the others. A quick edit with a razor blade fixed that. Other than that small issue, everything went great. This awesome set looks even more awesome now.

Great light kit

I really like the Galaxy Explorer light kit. Not only are there lots of lights for such a medium-sized model there is a lot of attention to detail to highlight things like control panels. This kit also contains a number of new (at least new to me) light elements (rotating red lights and the circular ring lights used for the engines) that are very cool.

The wire routing for the main engines could be a little neater by running the wires through the engine but other than that the kit is excellent.

A fantastic addition to this re-invented classic set

This is a great way to add some more pop to your Galaxy Explorer and is excellently done. From my experience with these kits (8 so far and more to come!), this one was a well instructed and easy to put together and the combinations of colour changing, flashing and ring lights add some excellent touches.
