We recommend lighting this kit by a USB Power Bank or USB Wall Adaptor (to connect to a mains outlet), which is NOT included in this kit. If you do not have a USB Power Bank or USB Wall Adaptor, you can purchase them from our Powering section.

It is not very easy to install. Not because of LMB but it is because this Lego set is very sensitive and breaking in pieces whenever you touch. I made the autobot version and this gives and amazing look to this set.
I love the final look of this kit, but, unfortunately, and somewhat expectedly, the transform function is essentially lost after installing the kit. I am sure something could be done to remedy this, but it would require more parts.

I've built probably 15 light kids and customized another 5 sets, while also adding LightMyBricks effects to non-Lego toys. I love this stuff. This set really does some cool things and makes Optimus look great. That said, I have a couple big complaints.
1. Fitting everything into Optimus Prime's back was exceptionally frustrating. Attaching the jetpack was such an arduous task of stuffing, pushing, pulling, and fiddling with so many wires and other components. I had to give up and come back to it later. I finally got it on but I'm pretty sure it could pop off at any moment. Even with all the time I've spent installing Light My Bricks components I've never been this frustrated. I wish this part could have been better, either through better instructions or design.
2. One of the absolute coolest things about Lego Optimus Prime is that he actually transforms. Unfortunately, this lighting kit really takes away that playability. While it might be possible to transform him, it was so much work to get all of these wires and parts jammed in there I think transforming the set would lose all joy.
LMB has done some truly innovative and cool things. For example, on this set, having his weapons be detachable with the use of the wireless power connectors was so inspiring I really stood in awe of it. Definitely a challenging installation. Once it was done though it looked amazing. Big problem however: the elbow joints are not strong enough to hold the gun and axe with the added weight. If your collection is mounted on a wall or a cabinet in a low-to-no traffic room this may not be a problem for you but mine is in a glass cabinet in my living room. The slightest (and I mean slightest) vibration knocks the forearms down and makes it look like he is sulking. Not really sure how I'm going to correct this but it's super annoying nonetheless.
